Sharon Nate is the Executive Director of Education for Matawa First Nations Management in Thunder Bay, Ontario. An Ojibwe member of Eabametoong First Nation, Sharon's personal and professional mission aligns with Indigenous advocacy by working to sanction equal access to opportunity, education, and mental health services. Furthermore, Sharon has been a critical person in implementing the Seven Youth Inquest recommendations. A skillful negotiator, mediating controversies while advocating for resources for students, Sharon drove the construction and retrofit of the now Matawa Education and Care Centre and live-in Student Care Centre that provides education, safety, and transitional supports to Matawa youth.
