Liz Barrett was awarded the 2016 award for Partner in Indigenous Education from INDSPIRE for her work in Indigenous communities in Canada. Liz, a teacher, emigrated from South Africa to Canada. Liz joined JUMP Math 20 years ago as a volunteer and now works and travels full time to support Math teaching across Canada. Immersion education and supporting teachers reclaim Native languages has been an important part of her outreach to communities. “None of the work I do would be possible without the communities' trust, the support of the teachers, and the wonderful Elders who have guided my journey in Canada."
